On November 7, 2023, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer, together with Mr. Supawit Phimonjit, Mr. Jomchai Chongthanakorn, as well as Miss Warisa Kongsantinart, 4th year students of B.Sc. in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program), participated in academic conference on AI titled “Empowering Minds: A Round Table on Generative AI and Education in Asia Pacific.” On this occasion, Ms. Faryal Khan, Programme Specialist, the Educational Innovations and Skills Development (EISD) section, UNESCO Bangkok, delivered opening remark to all participants at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel.
The academic conference, “Empowering Minds: A Round Table on Generative AI and Education in Asia Pacific,” was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (UNESCO Bangkok). Its objectives included providing an opportunity for students, faculty, and experts to engage in discussions and share insights regarding the opportunities, impact, and risks of Generative AI in education within the Asia-Pacific region. The focus was on enhancing the capabilities of AI, incorporating emerging AI technologies, and developing new approaches to education and learning, while considering the risks associated with the use of AI in education.
During this event, three ICT Mahidol students also shared their perspectives on “The Role of Generative AI in Learning: Empowering or Hindering Teaching and Learning?” with other participants.
