On 25 August 2022 – the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized “Wai Kru Ceremony, Academic Year 2022” for its B. Sc. in Digital and Science Technology (DST Thai Program) students. The ceremony for 1st year students was held in the morning, with Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, the Dean serving as ceremony president. In the afternoon, Dr. Siripen Pongpaichet, Assistant Dean of the Information Systems, presided over the Wai Kru Ceremony for 2nd year students. On this occasion, executives, faculty members, and students participated in the activity, which was held at the Grand Auditorium, 4th floor, ICT Building, Salaya Campus, as well as via Webex Meetings.
The presidents of both the morning and afternoon ceremonies began the ceremonies by lighting incense and candles to honor the Triple Gems, followed by greeting all students. After that, the student representatives delivered speeches and flowers to express their gratitude towards the instructors. Respectively, the students were then welcomed with a wrist binding ceremony. Finally, the executives, faculty members, and students sang the Mahidol song together.
The “Wai Kru Ceremony” aimed to give students opportunities to show respect to their instructors, to foster good relationships between faculty members and students so that instructors are ready to transfer knowledge to students and shape them to achieve their educational goals, and to promote and preserve Thai traditions.
