On November 23 – 24, 2024, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), hosted a hands-on workshop titled “YOLO for Custom Object Detection: A Hands-On Guide”. On this occasion, Dr. Suradej Intagorn, Instructor of Computer Science, shared insights on the popular object detection algorithm, YOLO (You Only Look Once). The workshop, attended by 18 participants, was held at Computer Lab IT104, ICT Mahidol, Salaya.
The objective of this workshop was to provide participants with foundational knowledge on the YOLO model for custom object detection. Key topics included:
- Basics of machine learning and computer vision.
- Using YOLO for object detection in images.
- Creating custom datasets tailored to specific requirements.
- Training YOLO models with custom datasets.
- Evaluating performance and applying YOLO in research or Web API development.
Through this workshop, participants gained a deeper understanding of object detection with YOLO and will be able to effectively apply their knowledge to their work.
