From September 9 to 13, 2024, Prof. Dr. Peter Haddawy, Deputy Dean for Research, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Supratak, Instructor of Computer Science Academic Group, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), served as speakers for the “2024 Workshop and Summer School: Where IT Meets Public Health.”
They conducted a workshop on “AI in Healthcare,” covering topics such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and an introduction to Bayesian Neural Networks (Bayes nets) for the program participants at the University of Bremen, Germany.
“The 2024 Workshop and Summer School: Where IT Meets Public Health,” was organized by the Network of Excellence in Advanced ICT for Tropical Medicine, a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of ICT and the Faculty of Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University, Thailand, and the University of Bremen, Germany. It was funded by the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service and the University of Bremen.
The Workshop and Summer School 2024 “Where IT Meets Public Health” was organized by Prof. Dr. Peter Haddawy and Prof. Dr. Anna Forster, the principal investigators (co-PIs) in the Network of Excellence in Advanced ICT for Tropical Medicine project. The program aimed to enhance the experience and skills of faculty members, graduate students, staff, and researchers in the fields of information technology, tropical medicine, and medical informatics through workshops on various topics, such as:
- “Internet of Things Sensors Network Architectures” by Prof. Dr. Anna Förster, Professor of Computer Science, University of Bremen
- “Web-based and Mobile Application (WMAs) UI/UX Design for WMAs” by Dr. Thomas Barkowsky, Postdoctoral Researcher in the Cognitive Systems group and Principal Investigator in the Spatial Cognition Research Center
- “Virtual Reality Immersive Visualization Technique, Creativity, and Agile Development Methods” by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gabriel Zachmann, Professor of Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality, University of Bremen, and Mr. Rene Waller
