ICT Mahidol instructors received congratulatory bouquets from MU President on the occasion of winning awards from the “National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT),” Fiscal Year 2024

On November 27, 2024, instructors of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol): Asst. Prof. Dr. Jidapa Kraisangka, Assistant Dean for Academic and Curriculum Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, Head of the Machine Vision and Information Transfer Lab (MVIT) and Program Chair of the Ph.D. in Computer Science, received congratulatory bouquets from Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, FACP, President of Mahidol University, on the occasion of winning awards from the “National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT),” Fiscal Year 2024, at Professor Emeritus Natee Rukspollmuang Conference Room, Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya.

Three faculty members from the Faculty of ICT received a total of five National Research Awards for the fiscal year 2025. The awards were presented in various categories as follows:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran received awards in two categories:

  • “Outstanding Researcher Award” in the Field of Information Technology and Communication Arts
  • “NRCT Quality Achievement Award” in the Field of Information Technology and Communication Arts:
    • Research entitled, “Automatic Tongue Segmentation and Its Movement Analysis in Video”
    • Research entitled, “Cattle AutolD: Biometric for Cattle Identification”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Jidapa Kraisangka received 1 award:

  • “Thesis Award” (Outstanding Level) in the Field of Information Technology and Communication Arts:
    • Thesis titled, “Application of Bayesian Networks to Risk Assessment” supervised by Professor Emeritus Marek J. Druzdzel from the University of Pittsburgh, USA

Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus received 1 award:

  • “NRCT Quality Achievement Award” in the Field of Engineering and Industrial Research
    • Research entitled, “Proposal of a Segmentation Algorithm Using Multi-sensor Fusion for Autonomous Driving in Snowy Environments”

The awarded faculty members will receive the National Research Award certificate, graciously presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
