ICT Mahidol Dean participated in a discussion at the “AI Engineering & Innovation Summit 2024”

On December 13, 2024, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), participated in a discussion at the “AI Engineering & Innovation Summit 2024,” an academic conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Supan Tungjitkusolmun, President of CMKL University. Throughout the conference, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat contributed to a Lightning Talk session titled “Co-Creating National AI Education, Research, and Innovation Infrastructure,” as well as a Panel Discussion on “AI and Digital Health,” both held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Bangkok.

In addition, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, was also a witness to the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the AI Engineering Institute and 3 universities and 2 companies, Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Siam Ai Corporation Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, ICT Mahidol also participated in a booth showcasing AI-related work. The displayed project was “Automated Framework for AI Federated Learning in Medical Imaging,” a research and innovation work in AI and medicine that uses chest X-ray images and diagnostic results from various medical institutions to train deep AI models, without exchanging medical image data between institutions. This approach allows the central AI model to be trained using diverse data sets, improving the model’s capability and accuracy. It also enables the development of central systems that support medical institutions without AI systems.

The “AI Engineering & Innovation Summit 2024” is the second conference organized by the AI Engineering Institute (AIEI) in collaboration with six leading universities in Thailand, including CMKL University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, Prince of Songkla University, and Khon Kaen University. The main goal of the conference is to position Thailand as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The summit also provided a platform for discussions on advancements in AI technology, both in theory and practical applications, covering topics such as AI foundation & infrastructure, smart cities, AI in healthcare (Digital Health), and creative technology. The event also enabled universities in the network to showcase their AI potential to the public effectively.
