On July 4 – 5, 2024 – the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized the “Basic Firefighting Training,” under the Occupational Safety, Health, and Workplace Environment Project, Year 2024 for approximately 200 staff and students at the ICT Building, Salaya. At the beginning of the activity, Lect. Snit Sanghlao, Assistant Dean for Engineering and Environment as well as Head of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Working Group, addressed a warm welcome speech to all participants.
On this occasion, Mr. Piyawat Phutthapatimoke, a Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Specialist from the Yai Cha Sub-district Administrative Organization in Sampran District, Nakhon Pathom Province, along with his team, served as guest speakers. They provided knowledge and organized practical fire drill activities across four stations. These included Station 1: Emergency assistance with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at the Innovative Space on the 1st floor; Station 2: Basic firefighting techniques and practice using a fire extinguisher in front of the building; Station 3: Survival techniques in case of a fire or smoke emergency in the 3rd floor hallway and Room IT302; and Station 4: First aid and emergency evacuation at Bits & Bytes Hall on the 4th floor of the ICT Building at Mahidol University, Salaya.
“The Basic Firefighting Training” was a part of the annual project organized by the Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Working Group. The objectives of the training were to practice basic firefighting skills and to equip staff and students of the Faculty with the knowledge, understanding, and ability to respond appropriately in the event of a fire incident in alignment with the policies related to occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions.
