On February 2, 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presented the National Research Award during the “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025” event, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. This event was held under the theme “Thai Inventions and Innovations: National Challenges” at Event Hall 101 – 104, BITEC Bangna, Bangkok.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sittiwat Lertsiri, Vice President of Mahidol University, along with Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), and Dr. Wudhichart Sawangphol, Assistant Dean for Research at ICT Mahidol, extended their congratulations to the faculty members who received awards at “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025.” This year, faculty members, staff, and alumni received awards as follows:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, the Head of the Machine Vision and Information Transfer Lab (MVIT) and Program Chair of the Ph.D. in Computer Science program, received three awards:
- “Outstanding Researcher Award” in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts. This award honors researchers who uphold exemplary research ethics and produce distinguished work that garners recognition and respect within the academic community.
- “NRCT Quality Achievement Award” for research excellence in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts, for two research projects:
- “Automatic Tongue Segmentation and Its Movement Analysis in Video,” awarded jointly with Miss Punyanuch Borwarnginn, Ph.D. students in Computer Science (International Program).
- “Cattle AutoID: Biometric for Cattle Identification,” awarded jointly with Mr. Kittikhun Thongkanchorn, Computer Technical Officer (Senior Professional Level)
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Jidapa Kraisangka, Assistant Dean for Academic and Curriculum Development, received one award:
- “Thesis Award” (Outstanding Level) in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts for her thesis titled “Application of Bayesian Networks to Risk Assessment,” supervised by Professor Emeritus Marek J. Druzdzel from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
- Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, Instructor in the Computer Science Group, received one award:
- “NRCT Quality Achievement Award” in the field of Engineering and Industrial Research for his research titled “Proposal of a Segmentation Algorithm Using Multi-Sensor Fusion for Autonomous Driving in Snowy Environments.”
