On February 1–2, 2025, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) organized the “Cybersecurity Bootcamp for Beginners” workshop. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth, Instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group and Program Chair of the M.Sc. in Cyber Security and Information Assurance, along with Dr. Ittipon Rassameeroj, Assistant Dean for Infrastructure and Technology, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dolvara Guna-Tilaka, Instructor in the Computer Science Group. They provided fundamental cybersecurity knowledge and hands-on training in network attack and defense techniques to high school students, undergraduate students, and other interested participants. The workshop took place at Computer Lab 104, ICT Mahidol, Salaya.
The “Cybersecurity Bootcamp for Beginners” workshop aimed to equip participants with knowledge in computer networking, cybersecurity laws, fundamental cybersecurity principles, and basic usage of the Kali Linux operating system. Additionally, participants engaged in Red Team exercises, which involved learning about ethical hacking—conducting legal system penetration testing to understand cyberattacks and identify system vulnerabilities safely. They also practiced Blue Team exercises, which focused on cybersecurity defense and threat response through real-world scenario simulations. These activities provided participants with essential cybersecurity skills, enabling them to better understand and mitigate modern cyber threats effectively.
