The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), congratulates Miss Voramon Kachanun, a fourth-year student in the B.Sc. in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program), for winning the “Best Paper Award” for IoT Research Presentation at the “13th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing (Ubi-Media 2025 / I-SPAN 2025).” The event was held on January 21, 2025, at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, organized by National Central University (NCU), Taiwan, in collaboration with various universities and organizations.
The award-winning research, titled “Intelligent Safety-Redundant IoT-Edge System for Indoor Gas Leakage Detection,” was co-conducted with fellow fourth-year students: Mr. Kitiphum Mueangthongkham, Miss Penpitchapa Pantaraksakul, and Miss Jidapa Moolkaew. This study developed an intelligent system for detecting indoor gas leaks to enhance safety (safety-redundant IoT-Edge System). The system integrates hardware and software, including gas sensors, temperature anomaly detectors, and cameras to detect smoke and fire, with alerts sent to homeowners via buzzer and message notifications.
The research was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thitinan Tantidham, Instructor in the Computer Science Group, Dr. Peter M.D. Scully, and Mr. Nattachart Tamkittikhun, a Ph.D. student in Computer Science, along with Prof. Dr. Chih-Lin Hu from the Department of Communication Engineering at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. Additionally, this research is part of the collaborative ICT Internship Abroad program for the Academic Year 2023 between ICT Mahidol and National Central University (NCU), Taiwan.
The 13th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing (Ubi-Media 2025 / I-SPAN 2025) is an international conference focusing on research and development in Ubiquitous Multimedia Computing and Communication. The conference highlights the development of technologies and computer science innovations capable of processing and communicating diverse data formats, fostering innovations that meet everyday needs.
