ICT Mahidol Students Present Software Engineering Research at International Conferences in People’s Republic of China

On December 3 and 6, 2024, a graduate student from the Master of Science in Computer Science program and senior undergraduate students from the Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program) at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), presented their research on Software Engineering at three prestigious international conferences:

  • The 31st Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2024)
  • The 2nd International Workshop on Exploring Employee Experience in Open Source Software (EEE-OSS 2024)
  • The 12th International Workshop on Quantitative Approaches to Software Quality (QuASoQ 2024)

Held in Chongqing, People’s Republic of China, the events provided a global platform for sharing cutting-edge research in Software Engineering.

A graduate student from the Master of Science in Computer Science program and students from the ICT International Program presented the following works:

  • Dan Muhindo Kazimoto, a graduate student in the Master of Science in Computer Science program, presented his research titled “DEV-EYE: A Tool for Monitoring Bus Factor Using Commit History” at the 31st Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2024) and the 2nd International Workshop on Exploring Employee Experience in Open Source Software (EEE-OSS 2024).
    His work was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanwadee Sunetnanta, Instructors of the Computer Science Group and Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA), Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University.
  • Miss Ramita Deeprom, a fourth-year student who participated in the ICT internship program for the 2023 academic year at Osaka University, Japan, presented her research titled “Challenges in Adopting LLaMA: An Empirical Study of Discussions on Stack Overflow” at the 31st Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2024).
    Her work was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, Instructors of the Computer Science Group and Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA), Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, along with Shiyu Yang, a PhD student, and Professor Higo Yoshiki, from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University, Japan.
    Her work was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, Instructors of the Computer Science Group and Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA), Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, along with Professor Higo Yoshiki from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University, Japan.
  • Miss Chutweeraya Sriwilailak, a fourth-year student who participated in the ICT internship program for the 2023 academic year at Osaka University, Japan, presented her research titled “Autorepairability of ChatGPT and Gemini: A Comparative Study” at the 12th International Workshop on Quantitative Approaches to Software Quality (QuASoQ 2024).
    Her work was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, Instructors of the Computer Science Group and Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA), Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, along with Professor Higo Yoshiki from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University, Japan.

The 31st Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2024) is a leading international conference in the Asia-Pacific region, organized with the primary objective of gathering researchers, industry professionals, and students to present their research in the field of software engineering. The conference offers a platform for sharing research experiences and knowledge about current and future trends in software engineering.

The event also includes international workshops focused on sharing experiences and advancing knowledge in software quality measurement, evaluation, and improvement, such as the 12th International Workshop on Quantitative Approaches to Software Quality (QuASoQ 2024). Additionally, there is an international conference on education and the sharing of experiences regarding employee work experiences in the context of open-source software (OSS) development, the 2nd International Workshop on Exploring Employee Experience in Open Source Software (EEE-OSS 2024).
