ICT Mahidol alumni received “Young Rising Stars of Science Awards for Senior Projects” at the 50th International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology – base Innovation (STT50)

The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), proudly congratulates Mr. Perakorn Nimitkul and Mr. Phuriwat Angkoondittaphong, ICT alumni, Batch 18, on receiving the “Young Rising Stars of Science Awards for Senior Projects” at the “50th International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation (STT50).” The event was organized by the Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King in collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, from November 25–27, 2024, at the Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai.

The awards were presented as follows:

  • Mr. Perakorn Nimitkul: Received the Gold Award for his project titled “Software-Defined Intrusion Detection System for Flexible Network Security”, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Songpon Teerakanok, Instructor of Computer Science.
  • Mr. Phuriwat Angkoondittaphong: Received the Silver Award for his project titled “MOSWING: A Noise-Robust Mosquito Wingbeat Detection Model”, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Supratak, Instructor of Computer Science Academic Group.

The Young Rising Stars of Science Award, conferred by Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King recognizes exceptional senior research projects by final-year undergraduate students in science and technology. The award aims to inspire recipients to pursue graduate studies and to nurture the next generation of highly skilled scientists and technologists. These individuals are envisioned as key contributors to sustainable research and innovation, driving the nation’s socio-economic development.

The STT50 Conference is one of Thailand’s most significant scientific gatherings, hosted under the theme “Science x Creativity: Crafting the World.” It provides a platform for students and researchers to present oral and poster academic works in various fields, such as physics, biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, energy and the environment, food, and agricultural sciences. Participants also engage in keynote sessions and group discussions addressing global challenges and fostering positive change through technological innovation. This year’s event attracted over 1,000 participants from 20 countries.
