On October 28, 2024, and November 11 and 18, 2024, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thitinan Tantidham, instructor of the course, ITDS331 Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems, organized a special talk on “Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)” for third-year students in the B.Sc. in Digital Science and Technology program (DST Thai Program). The session took place in Room IT212, 2nd floor, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya.
On this occasion, Mr. Piyawat Jomsathan, Cyber-Physical Systems Engineer (CPS) from the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), served as the guest speaker. He shared his expertise and demonstrated the use of the I2-Starter Kit—a simulation tool for industrial machinery equipped with PLC/S7 and Modbus protocols. The kit operated via a Raspberry Pi serving as an IIoT Gateway, tasked with collecting data from machines using Node-RED and the Node-RED Dashboard. Additionally, the system allowed internet connectivity to transmit data through the MQTT protocol to servers or the cloud. This enabled machine management, performance analysis, maintenance, and production optimization, laying the foundation for Industry 5.0.
