From September 27 to October 6, 2024, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), is taking part in the academic and innovation showcase at the ‘Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX2024)’ under the theme of Health & Holistic Well-being. The event is being held at the SX Grand Plenary Hall, G Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
On September 27, 2024, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, ICT Mahidol Dean, along with the university’s management team, including Clinical Prof. Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., Chairman of University Council; Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, FACP, Acting President of Mahidol University; and Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Acting Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, attended the opening ceremony. The event was presided over by Mr. Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, Chairman of the Sustainability Expo 2024, with Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, delivering the keynote speech and officially opening the event.
Throughout the expo, Lect. Pagaporn Pengsart, Deputy Dean for Infrastructure and Technology, along with staff and students from the Faculty of ICT, has been hosting a booth in the Better Me zone. The booth features academic projects from the Mahidol AI Center, which was established to foster collaborative research on Federated Learning and empower researchers to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges using modern platforms. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) to drive medical research. The showcase includes four key projects:
- Hololens Virtual Anatomy: Immersive Anatomy Learning in a Co-located Mixed Reality Environment
- Hearing Test Application
- VIS4ION: Visually Impaired Smart Service System for Spatial Intelligence and Onboard Navigation
- Automated Framework for AI Federated Learning in Medical Imaging
Additionally, the booth is exhibiting the “Turtlebot3” robot, developed by ICT Mahidol using the Robot Operating System (ROS) for educational and research purposes in robot control, mapping, and navigation.
The Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX2024) is being organized for the fifth consecutive year through the collaboration of five leading business leaders: Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd.; PTT Public Co., Ltd.; The Siam Cement Public Co., Ltd. (SCG); Thai Beverage Public Co., Ltd.; and Thai Union Group Public Co., Ltd. The event will take place from September 27 to October 6, 2024, under the theme “Sufficiency for Sustainability,” inspired by the inaugural royal address of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and the “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy” of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. The expo features exhibitions, lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and knowledge exchanges on sustainable development innovations from over 600 global experts, along with sustainable business networks from over 270 leading Thai and international companies. These participants will share insights on technology and innovation, sustainable city and community models, art exhibitions, and future foods, all aimed at creating a balanced world.
