On 9 March 2022 – Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), together with Prof. Dr. Akira Taguchi, Dean of Graduate School of Integrative Science and Engineering, Tokyo City University (TCU), Japan, Mr. Koji Ota, Associate Director of International Centre, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Phongsuphap, Deputy Dean for Strategy & Quality Assurance, Dr. Pawitra Liamruk Deputy Dean for Academic Administration and Acting Deputy Dean for Organizational Communication and Engagement, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth, instructor, Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, organized an online activity, “Sakura Science Exchange Program” for 174 students from both sides via Zoom Meetings.
Tokyo City University and Mahidol University, two distinguished and renowned research universities, have collaborated under a Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Agreement since 2020. This was to formalize and symbolize the commitment for the collaboration between the two institutions. However, due to the Coronavirus 2019 pandemic, the exchange activity had to be postponed. Both institutions, therefore organized this symposium to create cooperation and strengthen the good relationship between the two institutions by serving as a platform for students to exchange knowledge in science and technology. During the event, four students from Tokyo City University, and four groups of students from ICT Mahidol presented their research findings, as detailed below:

- “DHF and Day Zero Prediction In Children With Suspected Dengue” by Miss Ananya Pinedo Bello, Mr. Chotivit Pitipanjaphaiboon, and Nattapong Songsaksri, 4th year students, under supervision of Professor Dr. Peter Fereed Haddawy
- “MOSQUIOTO: An IoT Embedded Deep Learning-Based Mosquito Species and Sexes Classifier” by Miss Kanrawee Chiamsakul, Mr. Worameth Siritanakorn, and Tharit Chantanalertvilai, 4th year students, under supervision of Professor Dr. Peter Fereed Haddawy
