During 25 – 27 April, 2022 – the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), together with RabByte Foundation organized “Coding for a Better World: Coding Smart Project for UN Sustainable Goals with Micro:bit” for 25 Assumption Convent Silom School’s students in grades 4 – 6 . On this occasion, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of ICT, along with Dr. Arinchaya Jarungkittikul, President of RabByte Foundation, addressed warm welcome speeches and greeted all students at Lab 104, ICT Building, Salaya campus.
Through the 3-day Coding camp, Mr. Thanathip Damthip, Mr. Angkoon Jangkajit, and Mr. Ithikorn Thitinavakhun, as guest speakers, shared their knowledge about Design Thinking and Coding with Micro:bit & Sensor to all students. In addition, Dr. Pawitra Liamruk, Deputy Dean for Academic Administration and Acting Deputy Dean for Organizational Communication and Engagement, as well as Dr. Siripen Pongpaichet, Assistant Dean of the Information Systems, presented on the topic “Inspiration Technology for UN Goals”. On the last day, Sr. Ramonde Pisetsak, Director of Assumption Convent Silom School, participated in the students’ presentation session and gave out the certificates to all students.
The activity, “Coding for a Better World: Coding Smart Project for UN Sustainable Goals with Micro:bit”, was an activity under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which both parties have signed. The objectives of this activity were to enhance students’ thinking process (Design Thinking), and Coding skills, as well as to expand students’ idea and creativity in producing technology which will improve the world by using Micro:bit. In addition, the activity also focused on developing students’ IT skills so that they can adapt the acquired knowledge to their further studies in school.
