On 4 August 2021 – Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), together with Dr. Pawitra Liamruk, Deputy Dean for Academic Administration, and Acting Deputy Dean for Organizational Communication and Engagement, held an online event “New ICT Undergraduate Student Orientation for Academic Year 2021” for its freshmen from its 2 programs: Information and Communication Technology (ICT, International Program) as well as Digital Science and Technology (DST, Thai Program), via Webex Meetings and Facebook Live.
The activity was joined by 289 freshmen from both programs: 201 from ICT program and 88 from DST program. The purposes of this activity were to inform the information of the Faculty and the educational opportunities, as well as to introduce the faculty members, staff and senior students to all freshmen.
At the beginning of the activity, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat delivered a welcome message to all freshmen, “At the present, rapid developments are being seen in both scientific and technological field which are not only affecting our live, but also society, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic. In the new normal era, information technology is currently playing its significant role in our routine life. In addition, as classes at the Faculty will be conducted using online platforms due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, I would urge all of our students to remain patient, diligent, and determined to study. During this difficult time, I would like all of you to take good care of yourself, wear a mask every time when you are outside of your home and frequently wash your hands. Last but no least, I wish you all the happiness during your time at the Faculty of ICT. I know for sure that we will be seeing each other soon at ICT Mahidol.”
The activities held during the event included introduction video of faculty members and academic staff, introduction of ICT program by Dr. Pawitra Liamruk and Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, followed by introduction of DST program by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thitinan Tantidham and Dr. Siripen Pongpaichet. Then, an engagement activity to win the exclusive prizes from the Faculty, Kahoot Game, was held by the senior students. At the end of the event, Dr. Pawitra Liamruk held a Q&A session to answer possible questions from both freshmen and their parents.
