Competition Criteria for the “Creative Media Design Challenge: Graphic and Video Media Creation to Promote Thai Culture Using ICT”

The Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University invites ICT students to participate in the “Graphic Design & Video Clip Contest,” a competition for creating graphic and video media to promote Thai culture using ICT. The competition offers 20,000 baht worth of prizes.

  • Submission Period: Now – January 15, 2024, by 23:59.
  • Result Announcement: Extend time the result announcement February, 2024.
  • Submitted works must be related to promoting Thai culture using ICT, specifically by using ICT to create graphic media that promotes Thai culture from various Thai festivals, including one of the following topics:
    • Loy Krathong Festival
    • New Year Festival
    • Songkran Festival
    • Important Buddhist holidays, such as Makha Bucha Day, Visakha Bucha Day, Asarnha Bucha Day, Buddhist Lent Day, and the End of Buddhist Lent Day
  • Graphic works must include an ICT Mascot, which is created by the participant as an element.
  • Submitted works must be original and not reproductions, modifications, or used for any other purpose. They must not infringe on copyrights or violate any laws, and they must not have been previously published or received any awards. If any such issues are discovered, the competition committee reserves the right to disqualify the submitted works.
  • Content in the works must not touch upon political matters; cause conflicts; insult national institutions, religion, and the monarchy; use offensive language; or create social disharmony. Works must not affect international relations, nor infringe on cultural customs, traditions, or morality.
  • The language used for presenting the content can be either Thai or English.
  • Participants are free to use software for creating their work, but using AI-generated content is not allowed. The participants should prepare the evidence of their work as it may be requested by the committee.
  • The works submitted for the competition will become the property of the Faculty of ICT, and the Faculty can use them for publication and promotions through various channels.
  1. Graphic Category:
    • Submit files in the following formats:

(1) RAW format (e.g., .psd, .ai, or other software-specific formats)
(2) Exported image files in .jpg or .png format with dimensions of 2080×2080 pixels and a resolution of 200 dpi.

    • Provide a brief description of the work (not exceeding 100 words).
    • Include submitter’s name, student ID, year of study, program of study, email, and phone number.
    • Upload your work via your personal Google Drive and submit the URL through https://bit.ly/ICT-CMDC

  1. Video Clip Category:
    • Submit video files in .mp4 format, in portrait orientation, with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels, full HD resolution, a duration of no less than 30 seconds and no more than 1 minute 30 seconds.
    • Provide a brief description of the work (not exceeding 100 words).
    • Include submitter’s your name, student ID, year, course, email, and phone number.
    • Upload your work via your personal Google Drive and submit the URL through https://bit.ly/ICT-CMDC

  • Current students of the Faculty of ICT.
  • You can either create the work individually or collaborate with a friend (maximum of two students in total.).
  • Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of one work per category.

The judging committee will consider the following criteria:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal and Harmony of Graphics and Elements 30%
  2. Relevance of Graphic Media in Promoting Thai Culture and Traditions 40%
  3. Creativity 20%
  4. Technical Execution of the Work 10%

The scoring will be based on the above criteria, with additional considerations:

  1. The works that pass the first selection round will be evaluated based on the following:
    • All scores indicated in the evaluation criteria numbers 1 – 4 will account for 90% of the total score.
    • The number of likes on the Instagram account “ICT Mahidol” will contribute to 10% of the total score. This 10% will be divided into two parts: 5% from the general vote (based on the number shown on IG) and 5% from the specific vote (involving 100 randomly selected students).”
  1. Final Round: The work will be 100% evaluated based on evaluation criteria numbers 1 – 4.

Total prize value: 20,000 Baht

1. Category: Graphic Images (Total Prize Value: 10,000 Baht)

  • Grand Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 5,000 Baht
  • First Runner-up Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 1,500 Baht
  • Second Runner-up Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 1,000 Baht
  • Honorable Mention Prize (5 awards): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 500 Baht

2. Category: Video Clips (Total Prize Value: 10,000 Baht)

  • Grand Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 5,000 Baht
  • First Runner-up Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 1,500 Baht
  • Second Runner-up Prize (1 award): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 1,000 Baht
  • Honorable Mention Prize (5 awards): certificate of honor with a cash prize of 500 Baht

Notes:

  • The decisions of the judging committee are final.
  • Each participant can receive a maximum of one prize.
  • Participants who submit works will receive 2 hours of AT in Digital Literacy and 2 hours of AT in Environment.
