On 15 December 2022 – the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, the Dean, together with Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University, led by Dr. Wachara Riewpaiboon, M.D., organized an AI Tech Talk on “AI Roles in Assistive Technology for Persons with Disabilities”, in Room AI2, MU AI Center, the Faculty of ICT, Salaya Campus, as well as via Zoom Meeting.
On this occasion, Dr. Wachara Riewpaiboon, M.D., Ratchasuda College, served as the moderator for the seminar on the following topics:
- Issavara Sirirungruang, Ratchasuda College, spoke about the situation of disability and people with disabilities in Thailand, including obstacles, necessities for independent living, their participation in society, the importance of accessing and utilizing AI & Assistive Technology for people with disabilities, and how to enable them to access and use Assistive Technology comprehensively, and fairly.
- Prof. John Ross Rizzo, Associate Professor, Department of Neurology, as well as, Mr. Anbang Yang, Ph.D. candidate from New York University, United States of America, discussed about “Assistive Technology for the Future, and How to be Developed and Distributed to All in Need”.
- Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of ICT, talked about the application and development of VIS4ION technology to suit the conditions and environment at Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, so that visually impaired students can safely navigate the area. In addition, this talk aims to allow participants to learn more about the VIS4ION, advanced technology, and further develop it to create a system that could be used across the country.
